The Lorain County Adult Probation Department receives grant monies from the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections. This funding from the ODRC supports the Adult Probation Department’s specialized units of probation officers. These officers supervise offenders within the County rather than taxpayers pay the cost to house offenders in prisons. In addition, cognitive behavior treatment is available for all offenders while on probation. This programming has been successful in reducing recidivism rates and giving Judges of the Lorain County Court of Common Pleas alternatives to prison.
